The United States vs. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is an epic, ensemble drama about the lawyers who volunteered to defend the man who planned 9/11. Over the course of ten years, we follow a team of lawyers as they uncover government crimes, withstand criminal threats and intimidation, and get investigated by the FBI, all to defend our democracy.
We also follow the activists who opposed them: those who fought just as passionately, sacrificed just as much, believed with equal conviction, that everything these lawyers were doing was wrong. We meet hilarious, larger than life characters like John Kiriakou, a CIA whistle-blower who survived prison by making friends with both the Muslim Brotherhood and White Supremacists. We meet a young Liz Cheney, who was only beginning to display her moral and political ambitions, and watch Lindsay Graham spar with Eric Holder. And we’ll meet two activists you may never have heard of who nevertheless changed the arc of history. It’s daring, powerful, often hilarious — and it all happens to be true.
